In downtown New Rochelle lots, 24-hour meters coming

Starting Monday, if you park in any of six lots in downtown New Rocehlle, you’ll have to pay, no matter what time of day or night — except for Sundays from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. You’ll still be able to park free on the streets after 6 p.m., if you can find a spot.

When I saw tv cameras filming the intersection of North & Pelham Road on Tuesday morning, I thought that the JN was picking up the crossing guard story. Where, all year, New Rochelle has been paying crossing guards at 18 intersections throughout the city to work a 2 hour lunch shift. Kindergarten has gone on to a full day schedule this year. Students do not leave school at lunch. There are no kids to cross.

Instead, the cameramen were filming for the recent stabbing incident reported in today's JN.

North Avenue: Police are investigating a fight shortly before 2 a.m. Tuesday in which both men were stabbed, suffering minor injuries. Police charged Faustino A. Vazquez-Gabriel, 26, of 25 Prospect St., New Rochelle, with second-degree felony assault later that morning. Both he and the other man wounded in the fight were treated at Sound Shore Medical Center and released.

I can't see how if you are "stabbed" it would only be "minor injuries". Also, after being charged with felony assault, is it unusual to be "released"?
