A rich kaleidoscope of dance pieces from different ethnic regions of China will be performed by members of the New York Chinese Cultural Center on Tuesday, July 31st, at 7:00 pm, as part of the library’s 29th annual International Music and Dance series. Dressed in full, traditional Chinese costumes, the dancers will perform “China Patterns”, a fun and engaging program that includes the Ribbon Dance, Sword Dance, Tibetan Dance and more. The free program is appropriate for all ages.
Founded in 1974, the New York Chinese Cultural Center (NYCCC), a nonprofit cultural and educational institution, is dedicated to deepening the understanding and appreciation of Chinese culture in global and local communities. DanceChina NY, the resident dance company of NYCCC, is comprised of award-winning professional dancers and musicians from China and the United States. The company brings the richness of traditional dance, modern dance, Peking Opera and acrobatics to audiences. Noted for their powerful grace and contained elegance, DanceChina NY performs regularly throughout the United States for audiences of all ages. Each year, the Company presents over 650 live performances, workshops, master classes, lectures and demonstrations to over 150,000 people of all ages across the country.
Admission is free and limited to the capacity of the Ossie Davis Theater, on a first-come, first-served basis beginning at 6:45 pm.
