Operating Engineers Local 137 Strikes Nelstad Materials Corporation

Written By: Robert Cox

IMG_0438.jpgLocal 137 of the International Union of Operating Engineers struck Nelstad Materials Corporation of 40 Huntington Place in New Rochelle early today. Nelstad concrete mixers, long a fixture on the roads of New Rochelle, were not rolling this morning as several union members and Local 137 representatives picketed outside the Nelstad property.

Asked why they were striking, members refused comment and turned their back on a camera taking their photograph.

If anyone knows why they were on strike please post a comment.

UPDATE: I went by at 3:30 PM and the strikers were gone.

Not sure why they are on strike. But,they have been on a socalled strike for a year.

why? Nelstad just does not like too make payments to anyone. Just ask anyone who has busness with them.

  2. If you’re wearing a big sign on a busy street-
for all the public to see-
why be shy about commenting and being photographed?

Isn’t the whole idea behind picketing or protesting to bring attention to your cause?
