Gordon Ramsay of Kitchen Nightmares Needs Your Help: Nominate a New Rochelle Restaurant That Needs Gordon's Help

ShareThis

GordonRamseyKitchenNightmaresThe senior casting producer for Fox TV's show "Kitchen Nightmares" starring Gordon Ramsay has asked Talk of the Sound to spread the word among our readers that Gordon is looking for restaurants that need Gordon's Help. Gordon is looking for restaurants that have a great location but are unable to bring in the customers, restaurants that are running in the red.

You can nominate any restaurant in the Westchester area but, of course, this is Talk of the Sound, so we are hoping to help some New Rochelle restaurant make the cut. How to submit a nomination after the jump.

Send the name of the restaurant and location to knauditions@gmail.com. If you are nominating your own restaurant include your name, contact info, name of your restaurant, where you are located, type of cuisine you serve, how many seats you have, how long you have been open, photos or website if available.

MOST IMPORTANTLY: Tell Gordon why you need his help. The more information the better.

Tonight will be a special show where we will discuss the article I published earlier today: The Emerging Local Media Landscape in New Rochelle - 2012. The article is the result of ideas that have been forming in mind for a while but have rarely been fully articulated. There will certainly be many folks who disagree with my critique of the various media outlets such as the Journal News, WVOX, AOL Patch, Channel 12 News and others. There will even be a few folks upset with me for saying aloud what I have been thinking for a while. Either way I would sure like to hear from you on this topic and hope you will call or listen to the show.

The Emerging Local Media Landscape in New Rochelle - 2012

TalkoftheSound 1000000Talk of the Sound recently hit a major milestone in becoming the first hyper-local site in New Rochelle to reach 1,000,000 unique visitors. Don't expect any cheering from over in City Hall. After years of hoping we would just go away, the powers that be in New Rochelle have grudgingly come to realize we are not going away.

Mahatma Gandhi is often cited, incorrectly, as having said:

First they ignore you, then they ridicule you, then they fight you, then you win.

Readers can decide where we have gotten to along this continuum but the time has long since passed that Talk of the Sound is ignored.

London's Sunday Telegraph Reports on Talk of the Sound Story on Democrats Wooing Chelsea Clinton for Congressional Run

Philip Sherwell has a profile of Chelsea Clinton in the Sunday Telegraph, a major newspaper in the U.K.: Media-shy Chelsea Clinton explains her new role as television journalist for one of America's biggest networks

Sherwell interviewed me last week for the article based on our report that Democrats in Albany had approached Chelsea about running for Congress.

In a country where political dynasties are commonplace, it has not been lost on some Democrat strategists that there will be no Clinton holding public office for first time in three decades when, as expected, Hillary steps down as secretary of state next year.

Another intriguing scenario has been discussed by some Democrats in New York - that she might be persuaded to run for Congress.

Time Is Of the Essence - Come Support New Rochelle Firefighters on December 6th

NRFD Station 2 Ladder 12

A Public Hearing is scheduled for December 6th at 7:30 pm at City Hall, please come out to support public safety and voice your concern.

Consider that New Rochelle Fire Company Ladder 12 is closed today. Since the release of the preliminary budget it has been out of service more than it has been in service. The preliminary budget calls for a reduction of 5 less (almost 20%) fire fighters working per shift since 2009 and to permanently close Ladder 12 for 2012. Ladder 12 is a crucial part of the Fire Departments ability to provide “time of the essence” life-saving service; its primary function includes search and rescue. A normal response to a call requires that 2 engines and 2 trucks respond. If the response happens to be in the North End of New Rochelle and another call comes in on Pelham Road, there will not be another ladder to respond. Even if the call turns out to be a false alarm, the travel time to respond to the other end of the city can be upwards of 21 minutes (as per map quest); the distance between the 2 ends of New Rochelle is more than 8 miles apart.

Talk of the Sound Radio Today at 11 AM - Ethics in Photojournalism - Studio Line: (805) 830-8302

While there was plenty going on in New Rochelle this week with the primary elections and what not but the biggest topic of discussion on Talk of the Sound was certainly the controversy over a photo of a man who died after his motorcycle collided with a car on Fifth Avenue near City Park in New Rochelle. While similar photos and videos in the past elicited no response, those opposed to the publication of a photo -- the man being treated by paramedics in which his identify was not disclosed -- have organized a Facebook page dedicated to shutting down Talk of the Sound and a boycott of the site.

We will be taking your calls and discussing the ethics involved in publishing photos of victims of violence. I am trying to get an expert to come on the show. In the meantime, we will be using a book by Paul Martin Lester as a jumping off point for the discussion, with a focus on the following chapter:

Photojournalism An Ethical Approach: Chapter Four, Victims of Violence by Paul Martin Lester

Lester concludes the chapter by noting "readers are more likely to object to a controversial picture if:

Can You Criticize New Rochelle And Not Be A Right-Wing Terrorist?

If you have criticism for the New Rochelle City government you are a "tea partier" who is "unable or unwilling to find the truth"; if you do not support raising taxes you are a hypocrite who accepts government services while decrying them as socialist, if you try to make your case for lower taxes and smaller government you are "ignorant".

This strikes me as an odd way for a radio show host in New Rochelle to describe his long-time, regular listeners. For WVOX Good Morning Westchester host Bob Marrone, if you are not with him in his support for the liberal Democrat agenda in Washington or the same local Democrat members of City Council and the Democrat-appointed City Manager then you are, according to Bob, an ignorant, hypocritical, fraud.

Sheesh, tell us how you really feel!
