Busy Schedule Monday in New Rochelle in Response to Recent Cluster of School Violence

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- It will be a busy Monday as the City and School District respond to the recent spate of school violence.

New Rochelle High School will hold a  series of student assemblies on Monday. This will also be a half day of school.

NEW YORK, NY -- Prices in the New York-Northern New Jersey-Long Island area, as measured by the Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers (CPI-U), edged down 0.2 percent in October after advancing 0.5 percent in September, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today. Chief Regional Economist Martin Kohli attributed the downturn to lower energy prices. (Data in this report are not seasonally adjusted. Accordingly, month-to-month changes may reflect the impact of seasonal influences.)

PELHAM, NY -- Pelham Art Center Executive Director Lynn Honeysett announced that she plans to leave her position March 1.

At a Board of Directors meeting on November 15, 2017, Ms. Honeysett informed Board members that it was with greatly mixed emotions that she would be retiring from the Art Center she has loved for seven years. Ms. Honeysett and her husband, Tom, who retired from CBS’s 60 Minutes last year, plan to travel extensively and divide their time between their homes in Westchester and Columbia counties. She plans to return to her own art-making and writing.

SORE LOSERS: New Rochelle High School Cheerleading Team Banned From New York State Championships After Students Stole Winner’s Prizes

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The 2018 New York State Public High School Athletic Association Cheerleading Championship will take place at the SRC Arena & Events Center in Syracuse, NY on Saturday, March 3. The New Rochelle High School Girls Cheerleading team will not be there.

The squad was banned from competition for one year following an incident at last years's NYSPHSAA event. New Rochelle Athletic Director Steve Young confirmed the one year ban to Talk of the Sound in an email.

In a further sign that the Mayor, having hand-picked school board members for years, has taken effective control of the school system, Noam Bramson has "hired" Risa Heller, a Democratic political operative with close ties to Anthony Weiner. She has kept a "Hillary" pillow on her office couch.
