NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- Reggie Richardson sent a letter dated July 26th rescinding his resignation letter as New Rochelle High School Principal dated July 19th.‬

‪The District has issued a statement that this is a personnel matter which will be discussed in Executive Session on August 7th.

New Rochelle Man Arrested for Aggravated DWI by New York State Police

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY — New York State Police in Troop K removed 16 impaired drivers from the roadway over the weekend of July 27-29.

Among them was a man from New Rochelle.

On July 29, 2018, State Police from SP Hawthorne arrested Christopher E. Frustaglio, age 33, of New Rochelle, NY, for Aggravated DWI.  He was traveling on the Sprain Brook Parkway in the city of Yonkers, when he was stopped for a vehicle and traffic law violation.  Investigation revealed that he was impaired by alcohol, and was subsequently arrested.

MIDDLETOWN, NY — New York State Police arrested a New Rochelle Man Friday with a million dollars worth of marijuana in the back of a pick up truck.

Anthony Donofrio, 69, of New Rochelle, NY, for Criminal Possession of Marijuana in the First Degree, a Class C Felony.  Also arrested was Danny A. Aguayo, age 35, of Stamford, CT.

New Rochelle Police Make Arrest in Homeless-on-Homeless Violence, After Body of Woman Found at Armory

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- New Rochelle Police Department have arrested Jose Olmos, 28, a homeless Hispanic male. He has been charged with Murder 2nd Degree in the death of Nurten Seljuk, 66, a white female, who according to family members had lived a transient lifestyle. Seljuk appears to have suffered massive blunt force trauma to her head.

The official cause of death is pending the outcome of the Medical Examiner’s investigation. Family members have been notified of Seljuk’s death.  The arrest occurred at 4:47 a.m. Saturday morning.

State Labor Department Releases Preliminary June 2018 Area Unemployment Rates

NEW YORK, NY -- The New York State Department of Labor today released preliminary local area unemployment rates for June 2018. Rates are calculated using methods prescribed by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. The State’s area unemployment rates rely in part on the results of the Current Population Survey, which contacts approximately 3,100 households in New York State each month.

Former New York State Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver Sentenced to 7 Years in Prison

NEW YORK, NY -- Geoffrey S. Berman, the United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York, announced today that former New York State Assembly Speaker SHELDON SILVER was sentenced this afternoon to seven years in prison after having been found guilty a second time by a federal jury of using his official position to obtain nearly $4 million in bribes in exchange for his official acts and obtaining another $1 million through laundering the proceeds of his crimes.

Dead Body Found on Grounds of New Rochelle Armory

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- A dead body was found this morning on the grounds of the former New Rochelle Naval Armory. There is no sign of foul play, according to police, but they are treating the case as a homicide investigation.

A local business owner said it was a female, found on top of a pile of garbage.

Police cordoned off the area in front of the Armory and closed the right line on East Main Street northbound.

UPDATE: hearing it IS a homicide.


Girlfriend Invites Home Invaders into Boyfriends Home; Three Men Duct Tape Boyfriend then Burglarize Apartment

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- A woman allowed three men to enter her boyfriend’s apartment so they could tie him up and rob him at gunpoint, according to Westchester County District Attorney Anthony A. Scarpino, Jr. 

Augustus Moore, 29, of the Bronx and Madisyn Pettaway, 22, of Jersey City, New Jersey, have been indicted on a multicount indictment for burglary, robbery and weapons charges. Moore was arraigned today before Westchester County Court Judge Susan Cacace. The arrest of Pettaway is pending.
